Cultivations to suit soil conditions

A Fieldstar yield map provides essential information about a field’s past performance. There is now increasing evidence to suggest that the physical properties of the soil have an important influence on yield, which is closely related to available water. Curing compaction to prevent waterlogging can bring huge yield benefits.

The yield map shows the areas that require further investigation. If compaction or other soil problems are suspected to be the cause of yield loss, the yield map will point to the areas where the physical properties of the soil need further investigation. Cultivations, such as subsoiling, can be used to cure the problem. The yield map can also form the basis of a treatment plan to vary the cultivations to suit the soil type in specific areas.
